In a business environment, most printers are just hard wired, not wireless, at least not directly from the printer itself. A PC on the same network can connect to a printer, via ethernet or wireless to a WAP, then over ethernet. PC drivers specific to the OS and printer model are installed to the PC to manage the formatting. This is still a bit much overhead to expect a phone to be capable of out the box. Hence a 3rd party app like PrintHand.
