When somebody sends me a clip i press on it to get it and after downloading i press on it to see it but for the first second i see it and then the screen goes black but can well hear the clip carry on but no seeing just hearing .

Are you on OS 10
and have media card inserted then this will work(if you have chosen media download of whatsapp in media card from setting)
Check for write protection of video folder in media card if its write protected just plug the media card in pc - delete video folder create new folder with same name
then recheck for video download should work
