Why am I getting notifications on all but one of my email accounts?

The only difference in the accounts is that the account I'm not getting the notifications on the SSL is not on in the settings, when I try to turn it on my account cant be verified. The email account is working fine without the SSL turned on, I can send and receive emails no problem, the other strange thing is under notifications, applications-email messages the account that I don't get the notifications on isn't listed with the other 5 email accounts. Any ideas, suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Thank you.

You may want to confirm the port for SSL as some providers do not use standard ports for it.

Also, depending on what kind of email account it is, you may want to remove and re-add it.
