I have a Q5 and two Playbooks. No problem with the Playbooks - their IP addresses are readily available; they connect via WiFI to the computer. I want the same with the Q5 but while I can find the MAC address, the WiFi IP address does not appear to be available. If I look at the router, I can see that the Q5 is connected to it, but it only provides me with the MAC address, not the IP which the computer (Win 10) needs to complete the connection. The WiFi works as I have no data plan but can download my e-mail wherever I have a WiFi connection.

Where does the Q5 hide the IP address?

    Try Settings>About>Category:Network on your Q5.

No luck there. I get the software release, the serial number, the UMTS Operating Bands capability and the LTE Operating Bands Capability. No MAC address either; that I got from my router.

    What's your software release number?

What you're describing sounds like the 'General' category under 10.3.2; you want to look under 'Network'
