My z10 battery has been up and down since I got the phone June 2013.

OS updates helped, then made it worse, than helped again.... etc etc etc. I've done the whole bit, battery pull outs, not have stuff running. I don't even have facebook running all day.

I use my phone for texting and email. I would say I'm a moderate user, not a high user, because I am sitting on a computer all day, so my phone does not REPLACE my computer use.

Lately it takes me 5 hours to get to 50%, and the second 50% goes down WAY quicker.

Last night I went from 75% to 6% in a matter of 4 hours, where I barely used it.

MY QUESTION IS >>>> At what point should I just buy a new battery?? Is there a possibility my battery is just dead?? Do high capacity batteries exist for this phone or is that just a fake thing on ebay??

I have 2 new batteries and I can kill my Z10 in 3 hrs. BBM'en and a bit of Twitter and Facebook.
Not sure what is happening. Used to be good, but now any amount of use seems to kill it fast and my wife's Z10 is the same.
Sunday mornings I chat with friends and just veg drinking a Tims . 100% to 20% in less than 3 hrs. Last Sunday I went thru 3 charged batteries by the time I went to bed at 10 oclock.

    1. It's always a good idea to have an extra battery.
    2. allthough tidious I find it does help once every three months or so to do a full discharge full charge x3. The proceduce shouldn't be nessesary but I find that it helps gives better indicator/ battery-life

why wouldn't you change your Os first, load a leak and find which one works best, and you can change just the radio also,

    sooooo back to my question....

Is there a chance my battery just is not holding a charge because it's old and I should just buy a new one?? Will I see better times with a fresh new battery?

OR is this literally just an ISSUE with the latest OS right now?

I look at it this way, change the os is free, and if it works you don't have to spend money, if it doesn't then try replacing ,

Sad truth is.. this phone is much too powerful for this battery. So let's hope the rumors of tripling battery power are true and they get it to market asap. I'm quite happy with the z10 and I could hold onto it for years, but this battery issue is ridiculous.

I 1000% agree with you. I LOVE LOVE LOVE my z10, and wouldn't even consider a change any time soon. But the battery issue is killing me.

What OS would I be replacing it with? Right now it has the latest of everything.

    Which one would fix this?

ya thought so, reading a lot of post around here and a lot of them are having problems after doing the ota, i haven't done one on all three of my BB since i bought them, i only do autoloaders and set up like new everytime, and i never seem to have all these problems,

I was tempted to go from an autoloader... but..... when I wipe the device:

    1. am I loosing all my aps?
    2. will everything go back from the back up or does anything get lost?

    what apps BBW or android
    a wipe will remove everything
yes you can restore most everything, but that might be where the problem comes from, as you might be putting back the stuff thats causing you the problems,

android aps. I barely use aps, but I have a few.

Where do I go for the full wipe?

it might be the android apps causing the problems, now by no way am i telling you to do this, but you might want to think about it, go to the link below and read up on it,

    I am semi-familiar with this.

When I first got the Z10 last year, before using it I played with it and put a leaked OS on it, it worked amazing, and at the time everyone was using 10.1, and I wanted 10.2 to start using the phone with.

So I am semi-familiar with it. Just haven't done it in a while.

From what I'm reading on that link you posted, you don't actually need to do the security wipe first, you just load the leaked OS straight from the computer.... does that sound right? (I am assuming the auto loader, automatically wipes everything).

Yes it wipes your device, the link below is for all os available , and radio all are autoloaders, thurask put this together

    awesome!

What's the difference between OS and Radio?
    07-28-14 09:49 PM
  21. anon721037's Avatar
Os is the operating system and the radio is what makes it talk to the service provider, and wifi, like running 3247 os and the 3182 radio, seems like the best on my Z30
    07-28-14 09:52 PM
  22. wiz9's Avatar
so you have to install one of each? or it all comes bundled together when I run the OS autoloader?
    07-28-14 09:57 PM
  23. anon721037's Avatar
i think thurask put full autoloaders in there, if not download a radio just to be safe, and if your device just blinks after load the radio and it will boot up
