Native WhatsApp is no longer supported after Dec 31. You may have to switch to the Android version.

They have been pushing the end of support date for a while now. Wait till Dec 31, they will probably set a new one once again. (june 2018 ?)

Tried android version from playstore. Got stucked on 'looking for backup'. Any solution. Connection was strong enough.

Install WhatsApp, run, tap OUTSIDE THE BOX when warned about Google Play Services, sign in, quit. Apply patch from BlackBerry World.

If I understand this correctly, it will still be usable past that date. Right?

For the following platforms, you can no longer create new accounts, nor re-verify existing accounts. However, you'll be able to continue using WhatsApp:

BlackBerry OS and BlackBerry 10 until December 31, 2017
Windows Phone 8.0 and older until December 31, 2017
    Nokia S40 until December 31, 2018
Android versions 2.3.7 and older until February 1, 2020

The wording of that FAQ excerpt is a bit confusing, but what its saying is that it will be usable *until* the end of this month.
It is already no longer possible to create new accounts on the platform.

    Oh, ok.

Is that a typo on the date for the S40? I can't believe they cut us out and keep S40 1 more year...

That is not a typo. S40 has a longer expiration time than the other clients on the list.

Try manual refresh - select new chat > then can see all contacts. There extreme top, right side you can see three dots. Click on there and you will get refresh option. Just refresh.
