STR100-1 has limited compatibility with the TMO network, as you can see below.

BlackBerry Leap STR100-1 smartphone (Model: RHD131LW)

GSM MHz band support: GSM (850, 900), DCS 1800, PCS 1900
    HSPA+ MHz band support: UMTS (800/850, 900) , PCS 1900, IMT 2100
    LTE MHz band support: 800, 900, 1800, 2100, 2600

BlackBerry Leap STR100-2 smartphone (Model: RHC161LW)

GSM MHz bands support: GSM (850, 900), DCS 1800, PCS 1900
    HSPA+ MHz bands support: UMTS (800/850), AWS 1700, PCS 1900, IMT 2100
    LTE MHz bands support: 700, 850, 1700, 1900, 2100, 2600

    TMO:

The company owns licenses to operate a cellular communications network in the 1900 MHz (PCS) and 1700 MHz (AWS) bands with coverage in many parts of the continental U.S., Alaska, Hawaii, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands, as well as licenses in the 700 MHz band (block A mostly) available in certain parts of the country. In 2017 T-Mobile also acquired a nationwide 600 MHz license.

STR100-2 was the US version... none were really made for T-Mobile, but the STR100-2 has bands 850, 1700 and 1900 that are needed for good LTE connection to T-Mobile.
