I second the iPhone for a 16 yr old.
-but not a X --costs too much to fix when the phone gets tossed around. Find a nice 7 or 8.

The LE may be more impact resistant due to its light weight poly body. Plus -- colors!

Your question is subjective. The KEY2 is better for some, the KEY2 LE is better for others.

Assuming a physical keyboard is the main attraction for you, one of the the biggest differences between the Key2 and the Key2 LE is that the regular Key2's keyboard is capacitive (much like the Passport's), meaning you can use it like a laptop touchpad or a mouse, to scroll around your screen. Some people love this feature, others don't and some people actually disable it.

The LE's keyboard is not capacitive - it is equally high quality (some say higher), and works like BlackBerry physical keyboards have always worked - it's tactile and clicky and very well made. But you can't swipe over it to scroll the screen. This and a few other minor differences allowed the starting price of the LE to be set lower than that of the regular Key2.

There are many many discussions in the forums comparing and contrasting these two models, with specs and user opinions etc. A search will pull up enough for an all-night reading session. In the end, you'll have to decide which features are most important to you. You really can't go wrong with either one.

One more thing you should check before making a decision - make sure your carrier will support the model of your choice before you purchase.

I don't think you can look at specs of two phones and find out which one is better. the user experience, feel, stability, reliability are much more important when it comes to real usage
