Any BlackBerry will "work".

But BBOS requires BIS for push email, and carriers are dumping those old plans.

BB10, along with BBOS, is officially EOL, but still functions well enough for email, sms, and some light browsing. But there haven't been any security updates in over 2 years.

BlackBerry Android (devices of which are sold by TCL) will no longer be sold or receive security patches after Aug 2020, but will receive technical support until at least Aug 2022.

9983 is basically a Q10 is a decorative case with a little extra storage...

It will work.... but within the limits of an EOL OS that never was supported very well. Does have limited Android compatibility, but it's tied to Android 4.3, so it's kinda outdated as well.

Really comes down to what you need the phone for. If a feature plus phone is all you need, the 9983 would fit the bill.

If you want a BlackBerry and a PKB phone.... KEY2 and KEY2 LE are the most recent and ones that are more compatible as a modern smartphone.
