Does your car have Bluetooth? Because it should work if it's connected through Bluetooth

If you do have BT, check with your car's site and see if your phone is supported. This is in no way an absolute, but at least a place to start. Also, you should check to see if your vehicle has an update that might help. Does your car have a USB port you can plug your phone in? If so maybe you can get voice guidance. Otherwise, time for a new car.
If you have an aux port you can also play music with an aux cable

You don't need the Sat Nav option to connect the phone.
However you do need to have the "Mobile Phone Package".
I think it is also called "The Communication Option".
If you have the option you will have a multi-function steering wheel with buttons for the phone . You should also have a separate booklet.

If it's the same as my Jetta, have the Bluetooth on your handset turned on, and then turn on the car. The car should show up as VW PHONE or something similar. Pair with it using the PIN for your car.

Once you are connected if you have the option. Select BT-audio on your radio. It will then play your music and when the map needs to give direction, the music will stop and she will speak.
Works on my 2012 golf TDI.
