You can remove the other language files that you will never use: https://forums.crackberry.com/bb10-t...d-flab-977846/
Was a big fan of Shrink My OS back in the BBOS days, but for BB10 there isn't much you can remove without causing issues. Languages files were really about it. There were a couple of others, but we are taking a few MB at most.
Not really sure how much can safely be removed but the guy in the post I quoted above says he trimmed his OS by a large margin: "EX.OF MY SETUP: COMPLETE LIST OF FILES INSIDE THE FOLDER AFTER EDIT
(95 FILES LEFT or 1.07GB - DELETED 115 FILES or 1.49 GB)". This obviously includes app files etc but I think those BB Assistant language files have some weight to them. Could be wrong about that though, I've never really checked the size. I have trimmed alot of those files in the past though using his guide. It may be useful when installing a new OS on a Q5, for instance when space is at a premium.
Yeah I tried that back in the day, at some point... you remove BlackBerry World and BlackBerry Messenger, and the phone doesn't like that for very long. Others like weather, BBVE and compass are kinda key to the experience.
Language files do make a difference... but wasn't enough on my Z10 for it to matter. Unlike with BBOS, storage doesn't relate to performance as much... other than do you have room left over. Q5 and Z3 users might benefit.
But I taught something changed that prevented you from removing some apps like Messenger??
There are some that cannot be removed and one of those is BBM. BBW is another.
That's what I mean, that list from 2014 might not work in 2018 with BB10.3.3.
Oh yeah, that is correct and they are large apps indeed.
All the BlackBerry Assistant language files do add up to a pretty big chunk - about 1 GB when I took them off my Z10, leaving only the required base files and english files. Even then, I never actually used it.
But those were the only files I took off. There are some others like the demo file and maybe one other that's not coming to mind right now (maybe the tutorial?).
