How do I start a new paragraph or skip a line

You haven't said what device you're using, but I guess the answer is the same for all BlackBerry sms programs - go into sms settings and turn off 'use enter key to send'.

That way when you press the return key you will go down a line.

From memory, if you leave the setting as is, then you need to press 'alt + enter' to create a new line.

In addition to Heavens advice, I have found that if you compose the text message before populating the "send to" field, you are able to both skip a line and begin a new paragraph even with the "enter key to send" option activated.
