Sorry, not helpful, Jasonbourne. With my previous Nokia handset, and other peoples phones around me, all incoming texts have the timestamp of initiation by the sender but my Q10 does not pick these up. Arrival time is of no consequence but the time when the correspondent sent the message can be important.
Is there a setting I have missed somewhere?
I've never been able to see sender timestamps in texts - I wasn't aware that info was available.

The two times are typically the same, no? The only time I have ever seen a problem is when there is a network issue and a friend says they didn't get my text when I had sent it or vice versa.
I think there are several factors at play there: whether your carrier has good coverage in your current location, ditto for the sender. Or whether the recipient's device is on - my sister just told me this morning that she received my New Years texts from last night, today - because her phone was off all night. As far as I know, she sees her own receipt date, not when I originally sent everything.

Thank you for that input. I agree that following a period switched off the timestamp is always at receipt. But we do live in a poor reception area and occasionally incoming messages do not get delivered for several hours or even next day. For instance, when we are apart my wife and I will text each other to say have arrived safely then again when on leaving so we know about how long we should take to get home. If there is a delivery delay the message is useless without originating timestamp. On previous handsets (Nokia) time of initiation always showed. I guess that with the Q10 this is just not possible.
Grateful thanks for confirming that for me.
Richard
