So my new Q10, the ultimate productivity device has failed it's first test this morning. An email from a colleague containing a .xls sheet opened with empty cells. I got him to send it again in .ods format and BlackBerry showed me a big fat '?'

I updated docs to go, restarted the device and checked that both files opened correctly on my PC. What am I missing here? I bought this phone to do work on!

Does the spreadsheet contain macros or links to other tabs or files? Also, which version of Office was the file originally made in?

No macros, just a really simple sheet. I think the original was an export from google docs and then the second version from open office.

I have had a play. The orignal was a .xlsx file That must be the problem because when I saved it as .xls it opened fine.

    #disappointed :-(

I am curious if it would experience the same thing (z30 here). If the data is not too sensitive, I would welcome having you send it to me and it will faithfully report my results, similar to yours or otherwise.

Cheers for your reply Centerman66 , it prompted me to test further. It turns out an xlsx sheet created in Libre Office opened up just fine. So the problem lies with Google docs then. That comes as less of a surprise!

That has been bumming me out all day! :-D

I can open all sorts of spreadsheets fine, but then I realize I can't even insert a row/column and I have to check whether this is the year 2014.

Docs To Go is a spreadsheet disaster, BlackBerry should be ashamed of even offering it on their devices (what's worse is that they actually own it).
