So I've read numerous posts on this forum about people have issues with the Key2 spacebar stop working. I've got that issue more correctly it being unresponsive but it also then seems at times when I'm typing to act like it's got a mind of it's own and like it's being pressed down. S o. I. e nd u p. t ypin. g. something like that but i haven't pressed it in the first place. It will also add full stops mainly after the letters but I wonder if that's auto correction or something? Very odd though. I recently had the screen replaced in the last 2-months and I wonder if a connection was poorly fitted to the space bar or maybe even damaged?

But I also noticed this started to happen a couple of days after I was caught riding my in the rain and I got quite wet. My phone seemed still quite dry in my pocket in all honesty, but heck moisture!

The million dollar question though is it a spacebar/hardware issue that requires a connector replacement or a keyboard replacement? OR could it be something more sinister like water damage to the mother board. Eeek, I hope not.

I'm wondering though if I could say to the shop you replaced the screen a couple of months ago. Now keyboard is having problems. Are you sure you connected it up properly? Thought please team.

Start with the simple stuff first. With the phone on, hold down the power button for 32 seconds and then let it boot up,
If the problem still persists afterwards then it's time for a keyboard replacement. There are numerous threads about the Key2 keyboard replacement but face the fact that the keyboard is becoming increasingly hard to find and most likely have to source it from China on Aliexpress and then beware removing the antenna wires during replacement.
The keyboard itself won't be cheap either...$100 +

Thanks for all this. I did try turning it on and off already but have tried again. I should of also mentioned that the keyboard sensor is still working. Would the keyboard from a Keyone work on a Key2? Got a spare one of those.

No, it has to be a keyboard for a KEY² (BBF100-x).

Yes those are legit, Japanese version and should work for you as long as you don't live in China. Beware of anyone selling anything other than 100-9 Key2's, as more than likely they will be refurbs or pre-production models.

For those of you having problems with the link here is a new one https://forums.crackberry.com/e?link...token=B-sRJlfX

Thanks Yamahammer, it says they're shipping from China sometimes the pics are not accurate and the price seems so low. Be great if it's true though. Found a replacement keyboard for £140! And I'm just thinking would it be easier to get a new phone!?

While I am very big on fix it, because the phone continues to fall behind with security and the OS. My recommendation is a new phone. You could take the phone apart install the new keyboard and have the same issue, it could be motherboard related.

    Don't scare me Steinway,

I took it into a specialist shop today and they reckon it's just wear and tear on the keyboard and not the motherboard fortunately. I do know one day I will have to make the transition to another phone - but really what is the best alternative now out there please? Is there anything as smooth and a sleek? I really need a keyboard. There is no chance any of the fandom are going to get together one day and launch a new blackberry either?

There is only one current alternative and not great either given they don't offer 5G and that is https://www.unihertz.com/

The Key2 on the other hand is a 4 year old phone running Android Oreo (8) and no security updates ever coming.

    Bleak....

Sorry, I didn't point out that the Unihertz Titan Slim is their latest PKB offering. Check out the Unihertz Titan Slim Megathread.

Nothing scary at all, truth is until they make the change they don’t know
