I'm returning to Blackberry after using Samsung. I miss the BB typing and interface. I'm unsure as to what point to reenter the BB market. Hence my question above.

I'm BB10 fanatic.
I recommend the BlackBerry Passport by far! I have (2) of them both AT&T versions and I love them!
I rarely have an issue with an app I can't have that the BlackBerry Android would allow.
With that being said, I have over (200) apps on my Passport and a couple have been patched using Colbot's patcher. Also use Snap (primarily) for Android apps. Use Cobolt's Google Play App as well with no problems.
I believe you would never regret a Passport. It does everything quickly.

Wait for the Mercury. BB10 is done like dinner and there's zero app support
I disagree.
BB10 isn't dead, it is still supported and based on this (http://mobilesyrup.com/2017/01/16/bl...uture-of-bb10/ ) it sounds continued.
There are alternative apps for BB10 to replace those missing like Facebook.

Wait for the Mercury, unless workarounds are your idea of a fun time.
Mercury.
