I am getting my second phone cuz' my current Xperia Pro, yes, the one with the physical keyboard, is spoiled from use. I hate touchscreen keyboards, so I thought of getting the BB Q10. I was really keen on getting it(the specs are epic and more than necessary, plus, it's BB guys.) but then I heard that Whatsapp is stopping support for BB devices. What do I do? I couldn't find any good physical keyboard phones anywhere.

If you want a keyboard, get the new KEYone.

For non BB10 devices, you have the priv and K1. If you want the BB10 route, you'll have official support until June 2017, then it'll be a matter of you side loading a outdated android app that is compatible on the jellybean android run time, or a patched one if you can find one, usually for patched apps and a playstore we have great members who help and look into Cobalt for a running playstore.

Definitely, avoid BB10 phones. No app ecosystem. DTEK50 or if available, Aurora..

The thing is that I'm accustomed to BB10 and find it user friendly. I guess I'll just have to use Whatsapp Web or download an outdated version. Thanks guys.

This is part of the problem with staying with BB10: there is no guarantee that even an old version of Whatsapp would continue to run after June.

Is is possible for you to purchase a PRIV? It's Android and may be cheaper than the KeyONE where you are.

I heard that the Priv is still raw and needs a lot of tweaks.

Outdated versions of WhatsApp (on all platforms, not just BBOS andBB10) will be disabled from the server side.

Since you are accustomed to BB10 there is nothing wrong with getting a Q10 if the price is very reasonable. Read these forums for information on installing the Android version of WA.

I refer you to the earlier quote: "Outdated versions of WhatsApp (on all platforms, not just BBOS andBB10) will be disabled from the server side."

So, there is a VERY GOOD CHANCE THAT Whatsapp WILL STOP WORKING AT THE END OF JUNE and so this young fellow would be WASTING his money by buying a Q10 to run Whatsapp.

No one knows for sure that old clients will work with Whatsapp brings out their new platform in June. They might work and they might not work. We will not know until June. Android 4.3 is falling fast.

Thank you for pointing that out. I didn't realize the changes were server wise and a different app overall

Whatsapp has an expiration timer inside the app anyway, so that old versions automatically weed themselves out of the user base. Lack of updates to BB10 Whatsapp means the timer isn't going to be extended before June.
