I just deleted the Hotmail account from the Hub, and then reconnected it.

So the pop-up appears to have stopped annoying me, but would still appreciate some insight on this issue if anyone knows.

    Is that a notification?

Do you use an app specific password for that account?

It is a notification from BB services/hub.
    On my BBK1

No; I don't use a password or anything.
It's just my email accounts, linked to my hub.

Yeah I think there were earlier suggestions that for some email service providers, one would have to go into settings for the account from a web browser, and look for something called "app specific password" (the service generates a specific password for you to use for that account for that device). Then, that is what you use. It does not change/replace your actual password with the service, but becomes a specific unique password instance to use only for that device for that account.

    Oh, ok - thanks.
Is this like a new feature?
Having to link your email to BB Hub via a password?

I've never seen this pop-up before; it is Hotmail/Outlook, so is it a Microsoft thing?

It didn't happen to any other (non-microsoft) accounts.

    Thanks a lot!

I am not aware of any email service provider that doesn't require one to use a password to setup an account within an email-client-app. If you didn't finish setting up the account properly in hub, with your email address/account and password, then I suggest you first try that. No, none of that is new.

If that doesn't work, then you could try checking to see if use of an app specific password helps. No, that isn't new either. Something to do with less secure older apps (hub) and maybe also 2FA I think, but I don't remember now if it only shows itself when first adding an account on a device/email-client-app, so it might seem new in some cases.
