Last week I was presented with a warning on my BBKEY2LE (UK) suggesting that in order to obtain security updates from Google I needed to log in.

As I am wairy of such warnings I merely ignored this invitation.

Does anyone know whether such a request is a scam or whether I shoudl have signed in?

If this was a bone fide request, how do I go about signing in so that security updates are loaded onto the device?

Without signing into Google, you lose cloud backups, and Play Protect monitoring/updates. Just do it.

You can adjust your privacy settings by logging into your Google account.
