I thought BB users were supposed to be exempt from receiving advertising through BBM. This past week, I have received 2 "sponsored invites" to channels on BBM. I don't want channels and I definitely don't want SPAM. Is there any way to block sponsored invited or to remove channels?
Correct me if I am wrong, BlackBerry says high security means no spam on BBM, what the heck is this sponsored ad crap.
Well the security BS line was what I got from the blackberry team here in Waterloo.
I am the original poster and decided to get a CB account to continue the thread. I am outraged by this development. As a longtime BB user, I am furious that I now have to manually ignore SPAM fed to me through a side-branch of BBM (channels) that I want nothing to do with. I paid for my device and should have the option to opt out of marketing.
I like 8bisaB's point of view. I'm going to report BB to CASL for unwanted commercial messages and no ability to opt-out.
Here is the reply I got from BB 'support' today on Twitter:
"Sorry for the inconvenience. Regarding the sponsored invites this link might explain your situation: (link not permitted by this forum) . About your
other question, BBM Channels is part of BBM, but we appreciate your feedback and we'll take it into consideration. Please let us know if
you have any other questions. Have a good day"
Does anyone know how to get a hold of Jeff Gadway, head of BBM marketing? Is there a standard syntax for BB staff emails?
