I have a Q10 and a Z30 with version of the BB10 OS. When I use earbuds with volume controls, both phones do not respond to the volume down button, though the volume up and pause buttons work fine. I have tried two different earbud brands which work okay on my Android phone. So I don't think that it is a defect with my phones or earbuds. Could this be a bug in my version of the BB10 OS?

Hello try running the BBVE app which among the tests includes an audio. After do a device reset holding up and down volume buttons. Good luck.

Thanks for the suggestion. I just now tried BBVE and it is a pretty good app, but it does not have a test for volume buttons on earbuds, though it does have a test for the pause button.

Nevermind, you can't control music volume from the earphone, but only to pause it.

I am using non-Blackberry earbuds with pause and volume controls. The volume-up button works. The problem is with the volume-down button. I suppose it is possible that Blackberry did not intent to support the non-Blackberry earbud volume buttons and the volume-up button only works by accident.

Can you tell us exactly which ear bud model you have and are using? I believe the z30 should be compatible with earbuds that work on iPhone, and not those that work on android.

I have generic earbuds which work on Android. I just tried the earbud controls on my old iPhone 4s. The pause button works but neither volume up or down work. Too bad the earbud controls have not been standardized among the [hone manufacturers.
