It seems very odd that the Q10 is permanently out of stock at ShopBlackberry. Digital River sent me an availability notice on Dec. 25 after I had given up and purchased one on Amazon. It was immediately out of stock again. My suspicion is BB is either suspending production to tinker with it, or they are quietly letting it die while they design the next version.

The classic is basically Q10 version 1.1 wouldn't surprise me if they stop producing it

Killing off the Q10 works as a face saving measure for BB, avoids acknowledging a large percentage of returns on a keyboard product. Making the Q10 scarce would push buyers toward the Classic.

It is also a 2 year old device, and while they don't have as many as Z10s lying around, they are probably taking them out of production and letting carriers and stores sell whatever is leftover, and units in storage going to replacements for their enterprise partners.

A Wall Street Journal Canada article from Dec. 2013 had this updated paragraph:
Mr. Chen said Foxconn will help improve BlackBerry's inventory exposure supply chain issues and will likely take over its hardware design.

    Good bye Digital River?

Apart from the Passport / Visa type of capacitive keyboard, I think the Classic (with its toolbar) will be the only evolution of the full, traditional qwerty keyboard going forward.

Foxconn is already managing the inventory.
"This partnership would give us an unprecedented deep involvement in the sales and shipment forecast for a device" (a Foxconn official)
