    Are you talking about the dot on the 5 key? It's so you know where to begin typing or center yourself, just like the lines on the F/J keys of computer keyboards. Makes touch-typing easier.

    If you're referring to the key on the bottom of the keyboard next to the sym key thats the speed key. You can use it to go from app to app as a shortcut when you program a key as a shortcut. Simply press the speed key together with the other key you designated for a certain app and it will take you there.
