Passport hot to touch!

All of a sudden battery life on passport is shorrttttt! And it is running hot to the touch!? Any idea why?! How do I remedy this?

Reload the OS without restoring any data would be first taught....
Next would be to replace the battery....
Next would be this might be a good time to try out Android.....

This has happened to me several times and never has needed a reload.
- first use Device monitor and check what is using the battery. The top one is usually the screen. When its running hot I often find it is an Android app (Skype often). In this case kill the app.

- I would force a reboot, hold volume up/down buttons until it restarts (ignore screen capture comments).

In all my cases the reboot has restored it to normal.

I wrongly assume sometimes that BlackBerry users do a hard boot before asking for help....

what is the normal operating temperature of the battery in the Passport?
