I have a 6 month old passport with latest OS (according to rogers). When I try to take pictures with the main camera the screen keeps moving and shimmering as if under water even though I'm holding dead still. If I do snap a picture it looks exactly as it did when aiming to take the shot. I also noticed if you look at the lens it's constantly moving back and forth no doubt contributing to the shimmer on the screen. I have rebooted the phone to no avail. Any help would be appreciated as camera was very good at first but now basically useless.

It's not so much a focus issue. Part of the screen is focused and part is shimmering like looking down a road on a hot day but both are constantly moving around screen. The longer you watch it the worse it gets. When picture is taken certain parts are focused correctly and certain parts all wavy and shimmered

Tried your suggestion but parts of picture focused dead on and parts appear like double vision

Could be a dirty camera lens, or broken camera lens inside the device (ie one of the layers is broken)

The word "shimmer" makes me think of the rolling shutter flickering you get with high shutter speeds, when the illumination is of a strobing sort, like LED bulbs, or flourescent tubes...

The "moving" and "underwater" bit, though, do not. -I'd guess the optical image stabilisation is spazzing out, or has become (literally) unhinged. I don't know whether the OIS has its own gyros, or uses the phone's, but have you run the BlackBerry Virtual Expert sensor tests, to check whether the latter are ok?

Tried that and said camera pass. Wiped device and reloaded to factory reset still the same. I was hoping software or maybe some sort of update related but doesn't appear to be the case. Thanks for your help anyway
