I just gave you the autoloader link.

Download the BlackBerry Link software, but only install the drivers when asked - don't install Link or Blend.

You don't need LINK or BLEND, but you do need the DRIVERS so you PC knows what to do with your phone. LINK, BLEND and DRIVERS are a package deal, but you can opt out of components you don't want. So just install the DRIVERS component.

But make sure you save your settings and data somewhere before using the autoloader. See Conite's constant reminder "your phone will be wiped" and don't whine when your contacts, passwords, etc are not saved.

Do wonder if BB10 had continued, if they wold have moved away from reliance on a PC?

Both Android and iOS make it very easy to move to a new device, reload the OS or replace a suddenly lost device. Sadly BB10 users tend to learn the hard way that manual backups have to be kept up.... and that PC don't always want to work with BB10.
