My bro-in-law bought himself a Priv yesterday. There is no Gallery folder present in the icons. Tried all restarts, system update, etc. Still no gallery folder.
Now is this a normal thing for priv or is it just in this particular case. And if so then how can this be sorted?

Yes beside the google photos app. The regular gallery folder that one has in Android.

Stock Android has nothing else.
You might be thinking of what comes on a heavily skinned Android like Samsung's Touchwiz, LG's UX, or HTC's Sense.
I use QuickPic.
Install Solid Explorer and make a shortcut to the 'Photos' folder/tab. Seems to work well enough for my wife.
SE take 5-6 seconds to load my stuff
