    g, 2g, 3g, 4g(h+) 4g LTE there are different ones but LTE and h+ will show as just that and stop using the g symbol.

    Most modern networks are upgrading to LTE..but slowly. If you can get full LTE it's good quality reception, but since it is still rolling out it can be spotty even in urban areas.

    If he can choose between 3G and 3G/4G it means his 4G isn't misleading, relabeled HSPA+. For him, 4G is LTE.
