My screen has no problems. I just reset my phone and can't get past this essential gestures screen because the phone just won't recognise my downwards swipe. it keeps reading- Almost! Start with your finger higher on the screen

i would say you need to reload the OS again. Obviously there is something wrong and your phone isn't going to work until the OS loads properly.
