I got my Passport a year ago from Telkom South Africa, which as a service provider roams on MTN (MTN 8.ta). Since I got the phone only 2G, 2G and 3 , and 3G is available. No 3G and 4G, and 4G like on my colleague 's Passport who is with rival service provider Vodacom. The phone was advertised and sold to me as an LTE phone. I contacted Telkom but their call centre was not able to assist me in rectifying the problem. Any ideas what the problem might be and how to rectify it?

Use this list to determine what exact hardware model Passport you have, so you can tell which bands and frequencies it operates on.
Then you can find out what your carrier has in your area.

If your device operates only on the bands that are 2G and 3G form your provider, and not their 4G bands, then you will not get a 4G signal.... different radio hardware.
