My Blackberry ID was hacked 2 days ago, and the hacker changed the password, the security question and the username of my ID so there is no way for me to reset the password or recover my Blackberry ID for it no longer use my previous email as username. Then the hacker harassing and trying to miss use my contacts in that account (i.e. asking my friends to lend "me" money). Tried to warn my friends, but it takes time.
Yesterday contacted Blackberry support and asked them to block that account the prevent the hacker doing more harm. And the answer was? "You can create another Blackberry ID using your previous email"
That was NOT the problem, MORON. Even 5th grade can answer that. Is this the kind of support from Blackberry Messenger for it user?
Any logic here? Does this kind of support make sense? No wonder the user is declining.

It's indonesia language, but basically it is phising the website asked to register your bbid to watch the Porn video

Did you by chance put in your bbid at suspicious website?

Maybe the stupidity isn't with BlackBerry but with the person who fell for the phishing scam to begin with...

Hold on. How do you change the username (email address) that you log in with? It's not a display name...

So morale of the story is don't sign in using your BBID to watch porn. You have some brass balls to start up a thread blaming anybody but yourself for this.

Just use this ***edited*** next time.

Let's not assume porn is what got the OP in trouble. Phishing, probably but porn, not necessarily.

Sounds like his email account was hacked, if the evil person is misusing his contacts and asking for money. BBID is only used to log in to your device or BlackBerry websites.

Probably his computer too is a botnet member already with perks like free Trojans, worms, keyloggers and other malwares installed. Nice one OP!

I'm guessing a site asked for the OP's BBID (username and password) and OP entered the exact combination without thinking twice. It's actually a bigger problem, if the OP uses the same email address and password combination elsewhere.

Same thing happened with company twitter account, except they didn't give out the twitter password. Twitter couldn't do anything to shut down the obvious Russian hacker, and its a lot easier to verify the business than an individual.

From their view, you have no authorization or authority to do this [anymore]. So its difficult situation unless they want to go to additional steps to verify.

Misplaced blame if the OP uses the same email address and password combination on other websites. Very unsafe.

Poor customer support is but one of many causes of BlackBerry's downfall. However, this is more of user error than anything else. I doubt Apple support would help in similar cases.

The fake website looks like that in order to watch the video you need to put your bbid and password and a lot of people fell in to the trap

...which would explain why they posted this anonymously. Too embarrassed. Tsk tsk... I'm sure Hannah Palmer was very disappointed that the OP couldn't gain access to that porn site. OP, next time log in with your Palm...Pre I.D. You might get better results.

Oh I hadn't even thought of that. I was assuming that BBID was specifically asked for and has been confirmed as the OP as the compromised information.

Either way, possibly big problems ahead if that exact username plus password combination is used elsewhere, no matter where it was initially obtained from.

My friend, even if they had your BBID and password, it would not help them get to your contacts unless you use the same password for your email.
