On my Blackberry Curve 3g and Bold 9900, why isn't the browser working?

As a bit of fun I have resurrected my blackberry curve 3G. I am using the UK provicder Giffgaff and have made sure I purchased the deal with the blackberry ad-on. Everything is working on WiFi the problem I am having is the native web browser it is the only thing that doesn't work on 3G/GPRS. After a second of typing in a web address it comes back advising me to contact the service provider.

I have been onto the phone provider who says everything is setup on the account and advised me to do battery pulls, re-register my phone with the blackberry network, run the diagnostics, check my APN settings. I have done all of those with no resolution, its almost as if I havent setup something on the devices - any advise please as this has got my head scratching.

I'm guessing it was the provider... I put in a 3 SIM with a BIS subscription and everything worked.
