will appreciate the help
my bold 9790 shuts down. someone says i need to update the software using BDS. i launched it but it didnt give me the option to update
my software is currently OS 7.1.0 bundle 2039
is there any other solution if not how else do i update the software

I doubt there are any updates waiting for the 9790, I haven't heard of an update since 7.1 was launched a couple of years ago. Could it be a loose battery? That happened to me about 6 months into owning my 9790 and I got it replaced but I doubt you're still covered under warranty. You could try jamming paper in to the non-contact end of the battery compartment, pushing the battery closer to the contacts. A friend of mine tried this with her Z10 which was constantly shutting down and it cured it until she was able to return it to get fixed or replaced.
