Minimising vs Closing apps

Greetings fellow Blackberry users! I recently switched from an iPhone to a BlackBerry Passport and I am loving it! I just have a quick question for the community regarding the operating system.

I travel around a lot on business and need to preserve battery life. I noticed that apps are minimised on the home screen and you have to actually tap X on the lower right hand side of the app screen to close it. If leave the app on the home screen does it drain the battery and use up memory?

I like leaving my Calendar and Remember app minimised on the home screen because the apps displays my schedules and todo list at a glance but I'm worried that leaving the apps minimised without closing it will drain the battery.

Yes, leaving apps minimised will run the battery and memory, but how much of that it uses depends on the app itself and the way the developer optimised it to be.

You are better get android device and have a widget

Leaving an app open will surely use battery. Do it once and check how much battery these two apps use. If it is less, no problem.

At least better then current bb10 active frame and that's what power pack for.

Yeah, they'll eat up memory and battery because they are still running.

Unlike the iphone which puts them in a suspended state, BB10 uses real multitasking.

Which means that they are still running, eating memory and battery.

Having calendar and remember minimized will use like 1% of your daily battery. No need to worry since they aren't doing any activities in the background. Either way both of those are always running in the background.

If it doesn't bother you, you don't have to leave the calendar open. You can scroll up the hub when you're at the top to see your calendar entries. That may help by not having the calendar app minimized and save some battery.
