Firstly, I'm a novice.
On the Z10: the screen that shows the time and date, before you swipe up to enter your password, displays if you have waiting messages. Since upgrading to 10.2.1 if you tap on those messages the opening line is displayed. Is there a way to disable this feature to messages are secure?

Yes. You need to go to settings/ Security and Privacy/Lock screen.
At the bottom is a choice: Show sender only. This means the message won't be displayed on the screen.
OR you can choose Lock screen notifications and toggle it OFF.
This means nothing will appear on this lock screen. Whichever helps you.
