Blaze, please can you give an explaination of the new memory management in Oreo 8.1 ?
It is very different from Nougat. So there is an option for automatik memory management? What does it do?

There was always automatic memory management. People just chose to not let Android do it's thing. Not exactly sure what you mean by it has changed in Oreo, what are you trying to do that has changed? If you're simply referring to clearing your app/cache data, that can still be done but it has to be done on an individual basis. Cache performance has changed in Oreo and you shouldn't REALLY need to manage it. It will do so by itself.

When the system needs to free up disk space, it will start by deleting cached files from apps that are the most over their allocated quota. Thus, if you keep your cached data under your allocated quota, your cached files will be some of the last on the system to be cleared when necessary. When the system is deciding what cached files to delete inside your app, it will consider the oldest files first (as determined by modified time).

Thank you. So the automatic memory management must not be activated for the cache performance?

Nah. It just works. But again, you can take control yourself if you wish...you just have to do it on an app by app basis.
