    Active profile switches to Meeting for short meetings, but for long ones (10-12 hours) it does not. Any ideas?

    Is your status for those longer appointments set to busy?

    That's right.

    It's the status of the appointment that determines whether "meeting mode" kicks in. It only works if the status is "busy". If it's "free", "out of office", or "tentative", it won't go into "meeting mode".
