    Most websites, including BlackBerry's, state that the (U.S.-market, which I assume means the SQW100-1) Passport has 10 LTE bands: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, 8, 13, 17, and 20.

However, if you look at the available downloadable PDFs under the official support page for the Passport, the regulatory/safety/product information document* states that SQW100-1 has "octa-band LTE support." It proceeds to list 8 bands, and that list doesn't include 850MHz and 1700MHz. This would mean the US Passport fails to support LTE bands 4 and 5 -- and I seriously doubt that is the case since those are essential bands for LTE of major US carriers like ATT.

(*The document has the filename "BlackBerry_Passport_SQW100-1_Smartphone-Safety_and_Product_Information-1362065962006-en.pdf" and I would include the link here if it were allowed.)

So, is this an error in the official PDF? Or does the Passport really fail to support bands 4 and 5?

This is the S&PI the OP is talking about: http://docs.blackberry.com/en/smartp...5962006-en.pdf (PDF link)

^These have been wrong in the past. The 10 LTE bands information comes from the FCC inspection/filings of this phone, and since 850 MHz and 1700 MHz are US bands, you can reasonably trust the FCC to get its testing right for these bands (although, for some reason, they list UMTS 1700 as 1800...I don't know why.)

Plus, based on real world experience, we know quite well that LTE band 4 certainly is not missing--it's used by TMO customers, and Canadian carriers' customers. Band 5 in real world would be a bit more challenging to prove, but only because AT&T hasn't rolled out an expansive LTE network on this frequency. Last I heard, a few places in the Midwest.
