    Hi all,

I just got a Blackberry Storm with OS Version 5.0.x.
I'd like to use the BB Messenger to see how it handles formatted emails
(since it's my job to design them).

Sadly, in my country a native BB mobile tariff is not affordably by any
means (not available below 40 EUR per month).

I wonder if there are cheap SIM cards with BlackBerry Internet Server support,
aka push mail, in other countries that I could buy and use. If the setup cost
is low I would not mind paying high rates per Megabyte.

Alternatively, is there sourcecode to drive my own BIS on a linux server and
talk a the real Blackberry phone? Probably not since that would cut into
Blackberry's core business, but is such a software conceivable?

    Thanks all!
    Johan

Have you looked at other European providers--British for instance--who offer BIS? I thought they made roaming charges uniform across the EU, so charges shouldn't be exorbitantly high. You may have to go to such a country yourself, or make arrangements to have an active SIM sent to you.

I'm not sure though if any carrier would be okay with primary, long term usage outside their country (as opposed to occasional roaming.) But for BBM, etc. to work, you just need to have BIS on your line, you don't have to be actively using BIS. In other words, you could use WiFi the entire time and not a mb from your BIS plan--it just needs to be on your line/SIM.
