    Yup. Your carrier would know that. If the phone is stolen make sure to report it to both carrier and the police and they should get notified as soon as your phone comes up online. Of course this all depends on the country you live in and level of corruption of the officials to do the job they are paid for. Sometimes they just don't care. And if you live in a small country then chances of your phone being exported are significantly higher and unless you are in EU or your country has some special ties with neighboring country you're out of luck.
