Landscape mode for phone app?

I thought I was dreaming, when I put my PP in the carmount today and could not get the phone app into landscape mode - I thought I had been able to do this before.. hm??

I need landscape for charging as the usb cable is too short
...btw - can we get longer original usb cbales for our PP's?
The retailer I bought the PP from does only offer 3rd party cables as assesory to the PP but how I read in different instances one should only use the original cbale for chargeing..hm?

Best thing in my opinion is to use the long cable. Basic cables are not bad. I use basic only as they are cheap.
