    BACKGROUND

COVID-19 WFH huddle room conference head purchased to support the new way of working. Logitech device chosen as it claimed to offer Bluetooth Speakerphone functionality (for legacy phone conferences), dispensing with the need for a headset entirely.

    PROBLEM DESCRIPTION

On either Q10 (Model: SQN100-3, QNX Vers. 10.3.3.2137) or KEYone (BBB100-2, Android Vers. 8.1.0), the phones pair successfully with the Logitech ConferenceCam Connect. The phones successfully play media and sounds out on the Logitech ConferenceCam. However neither phone establishes a 2-way connection with the Logitech ConferenceCam and so refuse to use the Logitech ConferenceCam for phone calls.

    DIAGNOSIS

Logitech quickly responded to a raised support ticket. However Logitech's explanation as to why the device cannot be used as a Speakerphone on (as a minimum) BlackBerry Q10 and BlackBerry KEYone is as follows (verbatim):

Incompatibility of Logitech ConferenceCam Connect with BlackBerry Q10

The supported operating systems for the ConferenceCam Connect are:
    • Android 4.3 or later
    ...
Therefore the BlackBerry Q10 will not work.
Incompatibility of Logitech ConferenceCam Connect with BlackBerry KEYone

BlackBerry KeyOne is running on Android but does have a non-standard
cryptographic Kernel instead of the default Android Kernel.
    Therefore it will not work.
    RESPONSE SOUGHT

Per the subject-line. Is it a known issue - incompatibility between Bluetooth Profiles supported in BlackBerrys and other consumer devices?

KEYᵒⁿᵉ is no different from any other Android device on Oreo. Tell them you have something else then.

    Thanks for the suggestion Conite.

As the ticket has already been opened in respect of incompatibility between their turret and BB Q10 and KEYᵒⁿᵉ, and without confirming incompatibility with other Android 8 phones.., going-back on them wouldn't be from a position of strength.
