Key 2 variants or standalone devices?

We now have Key2 released in June 2018, Key2 LE released in August 2018, and Key2 Red Edition released in April 2019.

As far as I know the security update is done on monthly bases along 24 months period (not three years). Does that mean the Red Edition is going to get security update until April 2021? or they are all labelled as Key2 variants, when the former was released in June 2018?

Second question, if there won't be Pie, for how long could we get security update from Google? I hear that devices run Oreo won't get security update after 9 months from now. Is that correct?

Any color/variant of any device will follow the update schedule countdown of the first variant that launched.

All KEY2's will probably be updated until June 2020 (unless they decide to give it an extra year) and all LE's until October 2020.

To me personally that would never deter me from buying one because I really prefer having the PKB over having even the best slab that money can buy.

To some, support is extremely important.

To me, having a device I enjoy using is even more.

Oreo updates stop Sep or Oct of 2020 - which is pretty much in line with the 24 month point of the LE.
