Hello and welcome.
I have had email stuck like that before. The only thing that worked for me was to delete the email account and re-add it. Since you can't do that with the pictures app, I bet you are going to have to reload your OS to make it disappear. Sux, i know.
Ok, thanks for that, i might just learn to live with it!

Long press (don't open) and when side menu appears tap "delete"
The reboot phone by holding down both volume keys at the same time.

Thanks, should i actually press the yes/no options or just go straight for reboot?

Delete (yes) then reboot. It happened once to me!
BlackBerry*Q10, T-Mobile Germany - SQN100-3, Running OS 10.2.1.2941
Long press file. When side menu pops out tap delete then "yes" to deleted.
If you reboot the way I told you there is no "yes/no" option.
Hold both up & down volume keys down at the same time and keep holding until phone shuts off then release the buttons
This is a "hard" reboot and more effective than powering off.

Ok thanks but no joy. I appreciate your help anyway!

Add a file in the same location with the same name and delete the file.
It happened to me once, I just changed the name of a picture to the name of the thumbnail and loaded it in the picture album, then deleted it. It'll show up as that picture as long as it's the same location.

If what I said doesn't work:
Move file to sd card. Enabled usb mass storage. Connect to pc. Navigate to file and try removing that way.

Can be a cache problem. Move/backup your files from your SD card to your computer, then reformat the SD card. Check the Pictures app if it's blank. If it is, restore your files.

I am pleased to say that the said picture has simply disappeared. It took a few days but it looks like it has sorted it's self out. Thanks for all of your help and comments on this issue!
