STA100-5 does not have any 1800 MHz LTE bands.
STA100-5
GSM 850/900/1800/1900
3G/HSPA+ 800/850, 1700, 1900, 2100
LTE 850, 2100, 2600
If your provider only offers LTE in the 1800 band you are not going to get connected....
You really need a STA100-2 for that LTE Bandwidth.
Thanks, I used this info provideed by BlackBerry to buy My Phone and It shows that STA 100-5 used 1800mHz band.

The perils of not buying from a Carrier, or a manufacture not putting all the bands on one device. With the differences in the US Carriers and the size of the country... this is one reason I don't see people moving to the BYOD with carriers. Now if Verizon gets rid of CDMA and doesn't come up with some other crazy way to make their network unique, then maybe people could be confident of buying any phone and it working.
I understand BlackBerry not combining both CDMA and GSM, but to have five version of the Z30....
If BB had its way, there would have been six versions, two of which differ by...wait for it...one LTE band
In this regard, the Z30 was an oddity, even by BB's standards.
Thanks. I am very confused. Web site blackberry.) said that STA 100-5 is Tri Band, however there is a link in the same page in which said that STA100-5 is Quad Band.

It's tri-band LTE, quad-band UMTS, and quad-band GSM. Maybe you misread what was shown?
If you still can, return it and get the STA100-2 or STA100-6 instead.
I there
I changed my device for a z30 sta 100-2 and I still having trouble to get connected to a 4G service. My network supplier use 1800 band and is similar that my phones. Any advice?

Which carrier is this? All the 1800 MHz LTE carriers I know of use band 3, which the -2 does have.
Movistar. I am in Costa Rica
Posted via CB10
Yeah, Movistar CR definitely has a band 3 LTE network. Are you sure your SIM is new enough to get LTE? Is LTE the same data plan, or do you have to pay extra?
Right now I have a trail for a couple of months. Yesterday I went to a Movistar Store and they put my SIM Card in one of them devices and It works fine on 4G.
If I get out the SIM and install again my phone recognized 4G for a few minutes however it change after again to 2G and 3G

So it sounds like a provisioning issue.
But first, let's make sure your 4G/LTE is turned on. Go to Settings>Networks and Connections>Mobile Network. Under 'Network Mode,' make sure the option selected from the dropdown menu has "LTE" in it (or "4G," if that's what they call it Costa Rica.) If not, then pick one that says 4G or LTE.
If this doesn't work, or 'Network Mode' does not show any options that include 4G or LTE, then it's a provisioning issue. Sometimes, when carriers don't sell specific phones, they don't provision them for LTE by default. The workaround for this is to trick the system into believing that your phone is a provisioned LTE device. The way to do this is to provide them a 'dummy' IMEI from a phone that is provisioned for 4G/LTE in their system. So make their system believe you have a different phone. But not all carriers allow for 'dummy' IMEIs.
If you're interested in doing this, let me know.
They got it right with the passport.
hi,
I'd like to know. I live in honduras. bought my passport from amazon and have the same issue. I got TIGO's (carriers name) 4G LTE sim card.

Thanks rainout. I will try to do this.

Thank you for the screenshots. They show exactly what I was talking about.
Tigo has a band 4 LTE network in Honduras, so assuming you are in an area where their LTE network works, then you should be getting it.
To get your Passport provisioned for LTE, we will need a 'dummy' IMEI. Does Tigo have stores with demo phones? If so, then get the IMEI# off one of these phones, and call Tigo and tell customer service that you would like to activate a new phone on your account. They should ask you for your phone's IMEI# and when they do, give them the demo phone's IMEI#.
If Tigo does not have in-store demo phones, let me know and we can make our own 'dummy' IMEI from a phone that is provisioned, like an iPhone or something.
Keep in mind that this doesn't work everywhere. In Pakistan, for example, IMEIs are hard locked and cannot be manually entered. In the US, they can be.
will do. thanks.

How can I get a dummy imei# for a LG G3
Posted via CB10
If this is a phone you own, or it's an in-store demo model, you can give them that G3's IMEI. You can get the IMEI from Apps>Settings>About phone>IMEI.
Or, just ask them to set your phone type to "unknown LTE" in their system. See this here: http://crackberry.com/no-lte-your-bl...res-how-fix-it
Just your simcard not capable of LTE of your carrier.
