Throw either one into the trash and look for a replacement. ;-)

The BBOS Desktop Manager doesn't support an OS past Snow Leopard. At this point for your end of life handset, you'll need an end of life operating system. You may be able to get USB mode support in newer operating systems, but I don't even remember now if the old 8520 had that.
