[CrackBerry Question]

I got an upgrade classic recently for my phone contract. In the mobile phone store, I asked for the contacts to be transferred from my previous blackberry. I found later that only one number per contact had been transferred. I was happy to manually sort through the previous contact list and transfer relevant second contact numbers. This task was completed. However, after I had turned off my phone, I discovered that all the second contact numbers that I had added had disappeared again. I changed the classic for another classic - but kept the sim card. I still have a repeat of the same problem. After I turn off the phone, I end up with only one number per contact. Why can the phone not retain the second contact number?
