Am unable to install whatsapp and other applications
You haven't given us much info on your OS version which may help or from where are you trying to download and install other apps but there are other things you can check in the meantime:
1. Make sure "allow apps from other sources" is turned on in Settings
2. Download and install WhatsApp directly from their website at https://www.whatsapp.com/android/ . If a warning box appears that tells says you need Google Services just ignore it an tap anywhere outside the warning box.
