I am a student working in a company that provides blackberry phones for their employees. Once every couple of years the phones get replaced with newer models. I was ordered to clean the phones from any personal/company data. The wiping of the old models went flawlessly. However now I'm starting with the newer ones which have anti-theft protection and require a BBID to do a security wipe. The company is quite large and I like to avoid searching for people who might not even work here anymore to ask for their password. The phones might get a new life outside of the company. In other words: preferably the phone should still be usable after the wipe.

I wanted to know what steps I best take from here. Is it possible to still wipe these devices? Could I perhaps reinstall an OS on the phone? If I somehow was successful in wiping the device, would I still need a BBID?

Thank you for reading my question and have a nice day.

There is no way around it. Without the original BBID, you have a brick.

I was afraid this was gonna be the answer :/ It's just kinda sad to see the large amount of bricks I'm collecting here.

Anyway, thanks for the reply conite! You the man
