My playbook was stolen. I used to link my Blackberry phone to the playbook to work on emails etc. I no longer have the a blackberry phone and my Playbook was stolen. I would love to get it back but don't know how. I read an article about tracking it via the Playbook pin. How would I get that pin?

unless you have the pin written down I have no idea. especially if you no longer have the phone. I don't think there is any BB Protect built into the PB.

You have already thought of this I'm sure but just in case you haven't, change your passwords on all accounts including your BB account.

The PlayBook pin should be linked to your BlackBerry id, have you tried signing in on BlackBerry website? I have heard if you call BlackBerry they can track it or remote wipe it/lock it down for you, maybe worth a try.
